Party in the Park Battle of the Bands
HD1 studios is proud to be sponsoring this years "Party in the Park" along with "Alive" magazine
Local bands will win a place on the main stage at Party in the Park on 23rd August, supporting Mc Fly
4 Bands must have at least 1 member resident in Kirklees and play an original set suitable for a family audience.
To enter the competition, bands should send an email to battleofthebands@alive.co.uk providing a web address/link to a web page containing at least 2 of their recorded tracks + a brief biography + at least 2 photographs, or post the tracks + biog + photos to ALIVE, Battle of the Bands, 80 New North Road, Huddersfield, HD1 5NE. Closing date for entry is Friday 17th July’09. Please do not email recordings/photos etc.
8 bands will be chosen from eligible entries to play at live “play-off(s)” at venue(s) in Kirklees in early August. Local music industry “Judges” will then choose 4 winners who will go through to play at Party in the Park.

Party In The Park
The three Huddersfield bands who will support headliners the Guillemots are Project Sunset, Northern Beats and Buen Chico will be taking to the stage with top acts Elliot Minor, The Script and Guillemots at the free event in Greenhead Park on June 29.
Northern Beats are a four-strong indie act from Holmfirth who have already supported a number of big names at the Picturedrome, including The Stranglers, Ocean Colour Scene and Fun Lovin’ Criminals.
They are currently recording their debut album at HD1 Studios with producer Dave Creffield, who has worked with bands including Embrace and Kaiser Chiefs.
Project Sunset formed in 2001 in Huddersfield and have quickly built up a strong following.
The foursome mix rock, dance and hip hop to create their sound. To make their set even more varied, they will be performing with a number of guest singers and musicians at Party In The Park.
Buen Chico are now based in Leeds, but are well-known on the Huddersfield scene and have strong links with the town through BSS.
The three-piece have been have been performing their mix of fiery pop, new wave, indie and punk together since 2003.
Their influences are eclectic and include Supergrass, The Ramones, The Smiths, The Flaming Lips, The Pixies and The Beatles.
Buen Chico are signed to Faith and Hope record label and brought out their debut album, Right To Re-arrange, in 2007.
They are currently preparing to record their second album for release later this year.
The three bands who were put forword by HD1 Studios, will go on stage at Party in the Park from 3.30pm. The main acts will take over proceedings from 6pm.
